D Day 80
You will all hopefully be aware that the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings takes place next Thursday 6th June.
Representatives of the Paras attended the school last week and spoke with the children and staff about the meaning of D Day and the anniversary.
There will be a number of events taking place in the village on Thursday 6th June, including a service at St Vincents commencing at 6.30pm, which will be attended by several of 216 Parachute Regiment. This will be followed by a wreath laying at the War Memorial on behalf of the Parish Council. An 80th Anniversary flag will be flown outside the church and the bells will be rung for 30 minutes after the service. There will be a reading of the International Tribute and lighting of the beacon on the Playing Field at 9.15pm.
