2023 - Cllr Andy Crawley

remembrance day

We held our annual Remembrance Day service in Caythorpe on Sunday which was very well attended with approximately 200 people filling St Vincents Church and attending the service of Remembrance at the War Memorial afterwards.

Present were the Rev Sara Davies, my self as chair of the Parish Council, a contingent from the 216 Parachute Regiment, as well as representatives of the Royal Airforce, the Women's Institute,  and a large number of Cubs, Beavers and Scouts from the local troop and numerous members of the public. A bugler sounded the Last Post and Reveille at the war memorial and the names of the fallen were read out.

Refreshments were served in the church afterwards.

A wreath was also laid at the memorial commemorating the site of the Lancaster bomber crash in Love Lane where seven members of the Royal Australian Air force were killed.

The Parish Council had mounted wreaths bearing the names of the fallen around the war memorial and  the  Womens Institute had made and displayed a large number of poppies within the church and around the war memorial.
