A Massive Thank You From Caythorpe & Frieston Parish Council : Fireworks Night Was A Resounding Success
The 2nd November was dull and overcast but thankfully remained largely dry apart from some misty drizzle for the second Parish Council Firework Display.
A good crowd assembled on the Playing Field following the work of the Parish Council organising the event and the volunteers who set up the field during the day. Volunteers also collected donations to offset the cost of the firework display and members of the public had donated generously via the Go Fund Me app.
The Sports and Social Club were open serving drinks, and soft drinks and snacks for children and there were hot dogs, jacket potatoes and soup available to purchase as well as tea and coffee, and business appeared good in the run up to the fireworks. Franco’s ice cream van and a stall selling glow sticks and similar toys also did a brisk trade. A stall selling fireworks ensured that children could select a coloured sparkler and a carrot handle and ignite this safely in a designated area of the field under supervision.
At the advertised time of 7pm the fireworks commenced, and we were treated to a professional display provided by Galaxy Fireworks which culminated in a dazzling display of light and noise.
After the fireworks finished, many people left, but quite a few stayed enjoying the hospitality on offer at the Sports and Social Club.
Generous Sponsorship from The Spar shop, Samuel Barrell, The Red Lion, The Waggon and Horses, Ancaster Butchers, Wriggly Tin wine, PFI Karting, GR Ward and The Sports and Social Club helped to offset the cost of the evening, and we hope that you will support these ventures as they have supported this village event.
Donations were also received from Franco’s Ice Cream and Samantha on the Glow stick stall. However, the majority of the income came from the generous donations made at the entrances by members of the public – Thank You so much! Thanks to the generosity of all, we will be able to continue the event next year.
We also received valuable support from PGL, The Playing Field, Caythorpe Surgery, local volunteers, and last, but not least, the 1st Caythorpe and Dukes Covert Scout group who manned entrances, collecting donations, patrolled boundaries, served teas and coffee and generally assisted in the safety and running of the event.
It was great evening Caythorpe. Many thanks for all of your help and support and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
