In relation to recent posts and concerns regarding Mid UK, please see below an extract from and email I have just received from the company.;-

Hi Andy

Sorry for the delay.

Just following up on this and the recent conversations we have had.

First of all, just to give you a background on the recent changes we have made to Caythorpe site.

We as a company has made a significant investment to the site in way of machinery investment to give us the required processing capacity required, and we continue to invest in the site.

In doing this it bring with it some of its own challenges in getting the people we employ up to speed with the new equipment and the new way we are working. We have in affect got a whole new team in who are improving all the time but just not quite there yet so need constant mentoring and training. This slows the operation down a bit but we will improve as the weeks go by.

The issues that have been put forward by the local residents via your self are getting addressed and rectified.

If we break that down into the separate instances as they are all slightly different.

Vehicles Queueing.

I accept this has been an issue and it was never our intention to cause a nuisance to the residents. We have spoken to all our subcontracted hauliers and suppliers to state that the cant just go when they want, we have timings to adhere to and we will have a zero tolerance moving forward. We have also dictated the same to our own vehicles and that is easier controlled. One of the issues we have seen is that once the vehicles turn down the road with the weight limit on the bridge they had no option other than join a queue. Hopefully that is now rectified.

Litter

Again this has been a problem previously, but I would like to think with the scheduled routine that is in place this has now been rectified and I do recall the positive note that you sent to me previously that this is working well. However we are governed by the weather so there will at times be something that slips through the net when higher winds come.

Smell

Over the past few months we have been concreting at our compost facility over in Grantham and as such we have been holding some of the collected green waste in Caythorpe longer than normal thus meaning when we did move the material there could have potentially been a smell coming from this. The shouldn’t happen going forward.

Noise

For the reports of noise, we do undertake Maintenance on an evening and weekends, so as such the audible beacons that need to be in place for the safety aspect of the equipment may be heard. I have got our electrician looking at this to change the beacons to a less obtrusive noise to mitigate the noise.

I do hope this covers off the concerns raised by the local residents and I assure you that it is not our intention to be a nuisance site and we fully respect the residents views.  I would just ask that as we do take things very seriously and the continual investment made on the site do have the local neighbourhood in mind. So please if you and the residents can bear with me to we get all the positive changes made there could be times when things don’t quite go to plan.

I plan to be down on-site next week some time and it would be great to put a face to the name if you are free ( I will adjust my visit accordingly should you be available)

Finally, as a way of some goodwill I have decided to increase my offer for the sponsorship of the local fireworks display. I have made our accounts team aware of that, payment will be transferred in due course. Can you supply the name of the account holder please?

As always, should you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best regards

I think that this demonstrates that Mid UK want to do business in a way that does not impact too much on us as local residents. However if there are any further issues, then please do not hesitate to contact me and I will raise them with the company.
